This time of year is so exciting! We have such a hard time waiting for that huge volume of produce that we so enjoy in the summertime, but it’s also such a pleasure to watch the tiny greens sprouting and growing so heartily! We had a fairly bad frost at the end of March, but these little guys survived and have grown steadily ever since. While we have been harvesting and selling kale and spinach at the market the last few weeks, this Saturday will be our first week with a large lettuce harvest.
A portion of our lettuce was direct-seeded into the garden, but most of it was transplanted when these guys were quite small. It’s amazing to watch them grow so well. Above we have our Redina and Mesclun mix. And now I want salad.
Here is a picture of some of our sugar pod peas. They won’t be ready for a couple of weeks yet, but look how they are growing!
